To help you arm yourself with the information you need to make your decision, Business Degree Central has developed this Most Popular Business Doctor's Degree Schools ranking. This report analyzed 324 schools in the United States to see which ones were the most popular doctor's degree programs for business students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Northcentral University. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Most Popular Business Doctor’s Degree Schools list. Northcentral University is a fairly large private not-for-profit school situated in San Diego, California. It awarded 259 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Around 51% of those degree recipients were women.
Northcentral University is one of the schools on our list that is primarily online. Each graduate student at the school took at least one class online.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Phoenix - Arizona. It ranked #3 on our 2023 Most Popular Business Doctor’s Degree Schools list. Tempe, Arizona is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out doctor’s degrees to 166 students in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 54% were women.

Out of the 324 schools in the United States that were part of this year’s ranking, Capella University landed the # 3 spot on the list. This large private for-profit school is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and it awarded 166 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Around 63% of those degree recipients were women.
Since the graduate programs at Capella University are online, the school is an excellent choice for graduate students who need more flexibility than what is offered at some other schools.
You’ll be in good company if you attend Vanderbilt University. The school came in at #5 on this year’s Most Popular Business Doctor’s Degree Schools list. Vanderbilt University is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in Nashville, Tennessee that handed out 140 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Around 64% of those degree recipients were women.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online graduate classes at Vanderbilt. During the 2019-2020 year, about 67% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
Regent University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for business students to get a doctor’s degree. It came in at #6 on the list. This fairly large private not-for-profit school is located in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and it awarded 103 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 55% were women.
Regent does offer online graduate classes for certain degree levels. In fact, around 94% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
With a ranking of #7, Colorado Technical University - Colorado Springs did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for business students working on their doctor’s degree. Colorado Technical University - Colorado Springs is a private for-profit institution located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The school has a large population, and it awarded 95 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Around 31% of those degree recipients were women.

University of the Cumberlands landed the #9 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular doctor’s degree business programs. This fairly large private not-for-profit school is located in Williamsburg, Kentucky, and it awarded 78 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 58% were women.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online graduate classes at Cumberlands. Of all the graduate students enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 99% took at least some of their classes online.
University of Minnesota - Twin Cities ranked #10 on this year’s Most Popular Business Doctor’s Degree Schools list. UMN Twin Cities is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota and has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 75 doctor’s degrees to qualified students.
Of those students who received their degree, 27% were women.

Harvard University landed the #12 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular doctor’s degree business programs. Harvard University is a large private not-for-profit school located in Cambridge, Massachusetts that handed out 52 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 44% were women.
Online graduate courses are available at Harvard, but you will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your field of interest. In 2019-2020 about 96% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
With a ranking of #12, University of Chicago did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for business students working on their doctor’s degree. UChicago is located in Chicago, Illinois and has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 52 doctor’s degrees to qualified students.
Around 21% of those degree recipients were women.
Our Lady of the Lake University ranked #15 on this year’s Most Popular Business Doctor’s Degree Schools list. OLLU is a private not-for-profit institution located in San Antonio, Texas. The school has a small population, and it awarded 47 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 62% were women.
OLLU does have options available for those who want to take online graduate classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. During the 2019-2020 year, about 81% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
