Our analysis looked at 115 schools in the Southwest Region to see which master's degree programs were the most popular for business students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our 2023 rankings named University of Phoenix - Arizona the most popular school in the Southwest Region for business students working on their master’s degree. UOPX - Arizona is located in Tempe, Arizona and has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 2,987 master’s degrees to qualified students.
Of those students who received their degree, 62% were women.
One thing to take note of is that UOPX - Arizona does offer online graduate classes in some areas. In 2019-2020 about 99% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
A rank of #2 on this year’s list means Grand Canyon University is a great place for business students working on their master’s degree. Grand Canyon University is located in Phoenix, Arizona and has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 1,965 master’s degrees to qualified students.
Around 55% of those degree recipients were women.
Grand Canyon University does offer online graduate classes for certain degree levels. During the 2019-2020 year, about 96% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
Out of the 115 schools in the Southwest Region that were part of this year’s ranking, The University of Texas at Dallas landed the # 3 spot on the list. UT Dallas is a large public school situated in Richardson, Texas. It awarded 1,355 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 45% were women.
Some students may be able to take online graduate classes at UT Dallas. During the 2019-2020 year, about 83% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
A rank of #4 on this year’s list means The University of Texas at Austin is a great place for business students working on their master’s degree. The University of Texas at Austin is a large public school located in Austin, Texas that handed out 1,146 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Around 40% of those degree recipients were women.
Online graduate courses are available at UT Austin, but you will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your field of interest. During the 2019-2020 year, about 66% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
Out of the 115 schools in the Southwest Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Texas A&M University - College Station landed the # 5 spot on the list. College Station, Texas is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out master’s degrees to 919 students in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 39% were women.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online graduate classes at Texas A&M College Station. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 23% of graduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
American InterContinental University - Online did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for business students to get a master’s degree. It came in at #6 on the list. Located in Schaumburg, Arizona, the fairly large private for-profit school awarded 755 diplomas to qualifed master’s degree students in 2020-2021.
Around 50% of those degree recipients were women.
Since the graduate programs at AIU Online are online, the school is an excellent choice for graduate students who need more flexibility than what is offered at some other schools.

Arizona State University - Tempe ranked #7 on this year’s Most Popular Business Master’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region list. Tempe, Arizona is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out master’s degrees to 727 students in 2020-2021.
Around 39% of those degree recipients were women.
One thing to take note of is that ASU - Tempe does offer online graduate classes in some areas. In fact, around 42% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
The University of Texas at Arlington landed the #8 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular master’s degree business programs. Arlington, Texas is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out master’s degrees to 710 students in 2020-2021.

You may have the opportunity to take online graduate classes at UT Arlington. Of all the graduate students enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 65% took at least some of their classes online.
With a ranking of #9, Southern Methodist University did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for business students working on their master’s degree. This fairly large private not-for-profit school is located in Dallas, Texas, and it awarded 632 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 42% were women.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online graduate classes at SMU. During the 2019-2020 year, about 40% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
Texas A&M University - Commerce came in at #10 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Business Master’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region ranking. Texas A&M Commerce is located in Commerce, Texas and has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 559 master’s degrees to qualified students.
Of those students who received their degree, 56% were women.
Texas A&M Commerce does offer online graduate classes for certain degree levels. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 89% of graduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
University of North Texas came in at #11 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Business Master’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region ranking. UNT is a public institution located in Denton, Texas. The school has a large population, and it awarded 541 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.

University of the Incarnate Word landed the #12 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular master’s degree business programs. University of the Incarnate Word is a medium-sized private not-for-profit school located in San Antonio, Texas that handed out 533 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Around 47% of those degree recipients were women.

Arizona State University - Skysong landed the #13 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular master’s degree business programs. ASU - Skysong is a large public school situated in Scottsdale, Arizona. It awarded 531 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.

Since the graduate programs at ASU - Skysong are online, the school is an excellent choice for graduate students who need more flexibility than what is offered at some other schools.
With a ranking of #14, University of Houston did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for business students working on their master’s degree. University of Houston is a large public school located in Houston, Texas that handed out 513 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.

Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi came in at #15 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Business Master’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region ranking. Located in Corpus Christi, Texas, the fairly large public school awarded 487 diplomas to qualifed master’s degree students in 2020-2021.

Rice is a private not-for-profit institution located in Houston, Texas. The school has a medium-sized population, and it awarded 468 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Around 31% of those degree recipients were women.
Rice does offer online graduate classes for certain degree levels. During the 2019-2020 year, about 86% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
West Texas A&M University ranked #18 on this year’s Most Popular Business Master’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region list. This medium-sized public school is located in Canyon, Texas, and it awarded 465 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 45% were women.
You may have the opportunity to take online graduate classes at West Texas A&M University. Of all the graduate students enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 91% took at least some of their classes online.
Texas Woman’s University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for business students to get a master’s degree. It came in at #19 on the list. TWU is located in Denton, Texas and has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 436 master’s degrees to qualified students.
