To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our 2023 rankings named Southern New Hampshire University the most popular school in the New England Region for business students working on their master’s degree. Located in Manchester, New Hampshire, the large private not-for-profit school awarded 3,596 diplomas to qualifed master’s degree students in 2020-2021.
Around 60% of those degree recipients were women.
One thing to take note of is that SNHU does offer online graduate classes in some areas. In fact, around 95% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
Out of the 102 schools in the New England Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Boston University landed the # 2 spot on the list. Boston University is a large private not-for-profit school located in Boston, Massachusetts that handed out 1,504 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 53% were women.
Boston U does offer online graduate classes for certain degree levels. In fact, around 23% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
A rank of #3 on this year’s list means Harvard University is a great place for business students working on their master’s degree. This large private not-for-profit school is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and it awarded 1,388 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 43% were women.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online graduate classes at Harvard. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 96% of graduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
A rank of #4 on this year’s list means Hult International Business School is a great place for business students working on their master’s degree. Hult International Business School is a small private not-for-profit school located in Cambridge, Massachusetts that handed out 1,159 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Around 45% of those degree recipients were women.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since Hult International Business School does offer online graduate classes for certain majors. During the 2019-2020 year, about 82% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
You’ll be in good company if you attend Northeastern University Professional Advancement Network. The school came in at #5 on this year’s Most Popular Business Master’s Degree Schools in the New England Region list. Northeastern University Professional Advancement Network is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in Boston, Massachusetts that handed out 825 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 49% were women.

Fitchburg State University landed the #10 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular master’s degree business programs. Fitchburg State is a medium-sized public school situated in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. It awarded 439 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.

Fitchburg State does offer online graduate classes for certain degree levels. During the 2019-2020 year, about 89% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
Boston College landed the #11 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular master’s degree business programs. Located in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, the fairly large private not-for-profit school awarded 420 diplomas to qualifed master’s degree students in 2020-2021.

Johnson & Wales University - Online landed the #21 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular master’s degree business programs. This small private not-for-profit school is located in Providence, Rhode Island, and it awarded 265 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.

Since the graduate programs at JWU Online are primarily online school, so it is a great choice for returning adults and students who work full time.
With a ranking of #22, Post University did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for business students working on their master’s degree. This fairly large private for-profit school is located in Waterbury, Connecticut, and it awarded 236 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
